Frequently asked questions

How do I collect a good sputum sample?

Rinse your mouth with plain water, take two deep breaths, cough deeply from the chest and spit into the sterile container. Saliva alone is not adequate.

How fast is a GeneXpert result?

GeneXpert MTB/RIF typically gives results within a few hours of the sample reaching the lab, on the same working day.

Do I need to fast for blood tests?

Only certain panels (fasting sugar, lipid profile) require fasting. CBC, ESR, CRP and TB-related tests do not.

Is my TB report kept confidential?

Yes. Reports are shared only with the patient and the treating doctor; statutory public-health notification is handled by the doctor as per Government of India RNTCP guidelines.

Can outside patients use only the lab?

Yes — walk-in lab-only patients are welcome, with reports collected in person or via WhatsApp.
